Exactly two years ago tonight I was on a flight to Cambodia, the country where my family is from. While the cities and towns where my parents grew up are markedly different today, it was still amazing to finally see bits and pieces of the country that they had been telling my brother and sister and me about for all these years.Β  I visited old temples and royal palaces, rode on tuk-tuks (rickshaw taxis) and through the most ridiculous traffic I had ever seen, attended two family members’ weddings, ate sugarcane and lotus seeds from street vendors, saw the rush of city life and the impoverished state of the countryside, explored a city on a river, and met so many family members I never even knew I had.Β  And experienced so much more.Β  I had an incredible time.

These last few days I’ve been looking over my photos from the trip and reminiscing, so I thought I’d share some images. I have so many favorites, so this is just Part 1 of a two-part post!
