April 28, 2010 Katie & Steve | Roger Williams Park Casino Wedding – Providence, RI

Katie and Steve were married last month at the Roger Williams Park Casino in Providence. They did an amazing job of letting their personalities and relationship shine through the details of their day. One of the things I really loved was that they chose to write notes to each other while getting ready that morning and then also to read their own vows aloud during the actual ceremony. I’m all for many and all expressions of love! In fact, I’m a sucker for them, and I couldn’t hold back my own tears during the vows. :)

One thing that showed some personality–immediately after the recessional Katie already had a beer in hand. Weddings, especially the ceremony, can sometimes feel so formal so it was great to see a bride set the mood and show everyone else that it’s okay to kick back and just enjoy the night. Also, they decided to do a doughnut tower in lieu of a cake. What a fab idea!

Here are some of my favorites…

Katie and Steve, thanks so much again for having me there to capture all these sweet moments! It was a blast!

April 14, 2010 Christina & Matt | Harvard Square Engagement – Cambridge, MA

I’m shooting Christina and Matt’s wedding this June, but we only just met in person a few weeks ago for their engagement session in Harvard. I had a great time exploring the area, learning more about them and about how their relationship developed during Christina’s visits to Cambridge when Matt was a student at Harvard. I’m not surprised they were smitten with each other though, as Christina and Matt are a couple of the sweetest people I’ve met–and possibly even sweeter as a couple!

We were hoping for some sunny, warm weather but the winds and clouds decided to roll in and stay put for pretty much the entire afternoon. Despite this and the changing in and out of Uggs while running between locations, Christina was rocking her outfit! And Matt didn’t look too shabby either. :) We did eventually have to duck inside the Garage in Harvard Square to grab coffee and stay warm, but we managed to snap a few fun shots inside too. And I may or may not have made them ride the escalator ten times to get just the right shots!

Enjoy!

And one last fun one in front of the Globe Corner Bookstore.

Thank you again, Christina and Matt, for the fun session! See you again soon, on the big day! :)

April 7, 2010 Grace & Alex | Lyceum Wedding Part II – Salem, MA

Continuing from my last post, here is more from Grace and Alex’s intimate wedding at the Lyceum in Salem, MA. When I say intimate, I really mean it–there were about 30 guests total to share in their sweet ceremony and then a relaxed cocktail reception afterward. What I loved most about the day was seeing Grace smile and laugh through almost every minute of it, and of course the primary source  of this was Alex. He was constantly joking and making silly faces and the joy they both felt was evident to everyone there.

Grace is a children’s book author and illustrator, which means there were plenty of creative, handmade details by her and Alex and their team of crafty friends and family. Some of the personal touches included the painted paper cranes that hung from the ceiling, the floral arrangements, decorative paper cutouts, and a dessert table full of homemade cookies, pastries, and other sweets.

Here are some (ok, many) of my favorites!

If the couple in the guest book below looks familiar, it’s because I shot their engagement session last year. Oh, and their faces are still gracing my blog header. :)

I love this next photo because you can see that Grace’s glasses are fogged up a little bit from Alex’s breath. So cute!

The most amazing details of the day were the bride and groom topper that Grace and Alex created of their likenesses and the cupcake toppers made by Grace. First of all, the bride and groom topper is adorably accurate, from their hairstyles down to the detailing of their wedding attire. Secondly, let me explain the cupcake toppers: Grace created little likenesses of EVERY SINGLE WEDDING GUEST so that they each had their own topper to take home with them as their wedding favor!! As you can see, a lot of love went into so many of the details of this wedding!

Thank you, Grace and Alex, for having me there to document your day! It was a pleasure!
