Lindy & Greg | Red Lion Inn Wedding

Lindy and Greg were married at the Red Lion Inn in Cohasset. It was my first time shooting there, and I was surprised to discover that amidst the little town shops and houses and attached to the rooms at the inn was their Lion’s Hall, a gorgeous rustic space with a barn-like interior. It literally takes your breath away. Because of the inn’s location, we were even able to drive out just a few minutes to a couple of beaches for some portraits as well as get some shots on the lush grounds of the inn. I had such a fun time working with the variety of backdrops we had that day and think I’m falling more in love with barn weddings. My favorite part of the day though was seeing how genuinely happy Lindy and Greg were to be able to celebrate their love and commitment with their family and friends. I’m so honored that my dear friend Lindy chose me to document this special day, and I can’t help smiling as I look back on these images. Here are some of my favorites!

Paige & Paul | Bramble Hill Farm Wedding in Amherst, MA

Paige and Paul’s wedding at the Bramble Hill Farm in Amherst, MA was one of my favorites of 2012. When discussing their plans for the wedding with me, Paige and Paul had emphasized that the day would be relaxed and all about everyone having a great time. While I had some idea of the personal touches that would be going into the day, it was such a lovely surprise to see SO many thoughtful details come together so beautifully while still contributing to the laid-back feel of the day. Many of their talented friends and family helped with these incredible details. A friend gifted them the gorgeous, rustic bouquets and flower arrangements. Another friend lent his own antique furniture to create the cocktail hour lounge area as well as the entrance of the barn. Still another friend acted as DJ for the night. Paige’s sister created the sweet invitation illustrations, and her sister and mother hand-made all of the table numbers, runners, and escort card bunting. Paige and Paul brewed their own beer and created the labels for their guests’ wedding favors.

It was so special to see the outpouring of love at this wedding, not just in the details but also in everyone’s faces that day.

Chantal & Alec | Chatham, Cape Cod Engagement

It’s not often that I travel outside Boston or Cambridge for an engagement shoot, but I make exceptions when I can. Chantal and Alec live in Switzerland but planned for their wedding to be held at the Chatham Bars Inn in Cape Cod, close to where Alex’s grandmother lives. Because they’d only be in the States for a week before the wedding, we scheduled the session for the few days before, giving us the chance to meet before the big day. The shoot was originally scheduled for Narragansett, RI, but at the last minute we decided to meet at the Chatham Bars Inn, and I’m so glad for that. There was a light rain that fell all afternoon and a bit of fog, but we shot through it, and got some of my favorite images ever. The misty air and hazy light add such a beautiful, ethereal quality to the photos. I can’t wait to share more from their wedding day!

Kristen & Mike | Tirrell Room Wedding

I’m about to head out of town for the holidays, but I wanted to share one last post this week. Kristen and Mike were married on a beautiful day at the Tirrell Room in Quincy. There was a lot of bustling in the morning while they were getting ready, but I could tell both Kristen and Mike were excited, and the look of sheer happiness on their faces throughout the day really said it all. The ceremony was perfectly personal and intimate, and afterwards they were ready to settle into the evening just mingling and dancing with their guests. I knew we were in for an interesting night when the DJ’s lights turned on and glow necklaces were being passed around. It was quite the colorful dance floor and so much fun to capture the amazing time everyone was having.

Jessica & Hans | Beacon Hill and Esplanade Engagement

A lot of people ask if I get tired of shooting in the same locations, especially for engagement shoots, and the truth is I don’t. I love that every session I have with clients, no matter how many times I’ve walked the same streets, feels completely new. Every couple is different, the light is different, and the air feels different. I enjoy the challenge of seeing each familiar spot with a new eye. At the same time, while I’m used to these streets, sometimes the engagement session is one of the rare occasions a couple can find the time amidst their busy schedules to walk these areas of the city. These are the instances where I especially adore showing couples my favorite spots and exploring these areas together.

Jessica and Hans and I had a great time strolling through Beacon Hill and the Esplanade for their engagement session. I can’t wait to share more from their wedding at the Estate at Moraine Farm!

Thao & Phu | W Hotel Boston Wedding

Thao and Phu were married at the W Hotel in Boston this summer. While it was a day to celebrate their marriage, it was another big milestone for them: eleven years together, to the day! Phu even sent Thao flowers and a sweet note, as he’s done in years past for their anniversary. We took some bridal party portraits at the Boston Public Garden before we headed back to the hotel for the ceremony and cocktail hour, and then to Chinatown for their reception. Their dance floor was one of the most fun I’d seen in a while, thanks to the incredible Anthony of JetSet Sounds! Though the day was just one in the amazing journey that Thao and Phu have had and continue to have together, I’m so happy I was chosen document it for them.

At the wedding I also ran into a couple of my previous clients who were attending as guests, Stephanie and Andy and Ha and Fuji. It’s always so much fun reconnecting and seeing what couples are up to post-wedding – and it’s especially exciting to hear that there have been new additions their family! :)

Amanda & Mike | Beacon Hill & Esplanade Engagement

We had beautiful light and some of the best backdrops in the city, and while the rest of the world was bustling by, Amanda and Mike somehow found a way – as I’m sure they do on most days – to focus on just each other and this time they had together. It was a lovely afternoon of walking and talking through the streets of Beacon Hill and then along the Esplanade as the sun was setting for the last bit of the shoot. Sometimes it takes a bit of time for couples to warm up to me and my camera, but Amanda and Mike were comfortable from the beginning, and I love that this, and the warmth in their relationship, shows through the images.

They were married this September at Misselwood at Endicott College. I can’t wait to shore more photos from the wedding soon!

Lindy & Greg | Boston Public Garden engagement

Lindy and I met through my previous job when I first moved to Boston four and a half years ago. She’s since seen my transition to becoming a full-time photographer, and continued to follow my photography blog even after we were no longer co-workers. I’d heard a bit about Greg while they were dating, so when they got engaged I couldn’t be happier for the two of them! I was so honored when she asked me to be her wedding photographer. Lindy was one of the very first friends I made when I moved to Boston, so she’ll always hold a special place in my heart.

She and Greg chose to have their engagement session at the Boston Public Garden – one of my absolute favorite places in the city. It’s obvious how much she and Greg adore each other, and I can’t wait to share more from their wedding at the Red Lion Inn!

Kristen & Mike | Boston Engagement at Christopher Columbus Park

I met Kristen and Mike at Christopher Columbus Park for their engagement session this summer. While the park and the surrounding area are beautiful backdrops for a photo session, I love that it’s meaningful to them because it’s right next to the bar where they first met. Something funny I learned is that Mike, under the influence of a few too many drinks, actually proposed to Kristen that same night that they met. Though the real proposal eventually came later at the Public Garden, I think it’s sweet that Mike already knew from day one. :)
